I’ve been saying this for years. This isn’t the first study to show this correlation, but it’s getting the most attention, probably because it’s from Princeton and because the political climate is a bit more accepting than in the past 8 years.
There are myriad issues with HFCS, shown by countless studies, but the Corn Refiners keep saying that it’s “The same as sugar.” In fact, I got an email from them last year saying exaclty that, and that I was “misinformed” as to the dangers of HFCS because there weren’t any. Can you see my eyes rolling?
My biggest tip for anyone who wants to be healthier and/or who wants to lose weight is to stop eating this stuff. That is, I realize, easier than it sounds because it’s in *everything.* This means lots of cooking from scratch with whole ingredients, but in the long run (heck, even in the shorter run, since the weight comes off pretty darn fast when you cut it from your diet) it’s an incredible step towards a healthier lifestyle.
